News:

This week we've started a new unit on Personal Finance.

Students have chosen careers and will be going through the steps of budgeting; including learning about taxes, insurance, mortgages, car payments and utilities. 

Hopefully they'll have some money left at the end of their month for entertainment purposes! 

Math

Most days we have math centers.  There is a lesson at the beginning and then we have 4 centers we rotate through to practice.  We use Prodigy and Dreambox as a technology connection.

Reading

We start reading as a whole group and are learning reading comprehension strategies as well as decoding word skills.  Then we all get a chance to read and practice using new skills.  At the end of our reading time together we share our reading and our thinking with first our partners and then the whole class.

SoCial Studies

Sometimes we have different activities at centers.  We are learning about maps.  We are also using the Bermuda Triangle as a way to use our knowledge.  

Science

We have science two times a week.  We use Mystery Science.  Recently we saw how a blind person sees, and we used lenses to project images on a retina model.  Did you know that we see things on our retinas upside down?
