First Grade with Ms. Young

Ms. Young, kyoung@gisu.org

Shout out to my students! They have worked extremely hard; I am super proud of them!
~Ms. Young

our news:

In Math, students have been practicing counting forward and backward in a variety of ways and learning how to break larger numbers into smaller friendly numbers while adding and subtracting.

In Science we are learning all about dental hygiene. We created a chart to keep track of what we Know, Want to know, and what we Learned (KWL).Ask your student what's on the chart and what they've learned!

In Fundations we've been learning about blends; students are learning the difference between a digraph and a blend, and that blends can be tricky to catch when spelling.
It's Mud Season!
Keeping an extra set of clothes and shoes at school will help students keep the mud at bay.

We are trying to get students outside as much as possible after a very cold winter with many indoor recess days.

All Breakfasts and Lunches are free to all students during the 2021-2022 School Year. Please visit the Abbey Group for menus.
Our Classroom Helper jobs change daily.
Ask you students about the jobs and which ones they like best!
